CM abolishes parking fee in model bazaars - Lahore_Real_Estate - 08-08-2011 02:32 PM

CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that provision of quality essential items to people at fixed rates is responsibility of the government which it will fulfil at every cost.

He was talking to consumers during his visit to various Sunday bazaars here in the provincial metropolis on Sunday. Shahbaz, on his return from Britain, paid a surprise visit to Model Bazaar, Township, without any protocol and enquired from the people individually about the quality and prices of essential items. The people informed him that edibles were available to them at the fixed rates during Ramazan, however, the process should also continue after the holy month. In response to the request of people, the chief minister announced abolition of the parking fee in all the Model Bazaars of the province, including those of Lahore. He announced that shopkeepers would be allowed to keep their business open till 10pm during Ramazan for the benefit of the fasting people. The citizens questioned why the shopkeepers who could provide essential commodities at the fixed rates during Ramazan could not do so through the year. The CM replied that the Punjab government wanted to provide such an environment to the people, especially to women, for purchasing items of daily use as were available in the developed countries and model bazaars were an important step in this direction. He said that besides Ramazan bazaars and Sunday bazaars, the government had also taken various measures for the supply of essential commodities to the people at reasonable rates. He said the government would deal with hoarders and profiteers with and iron hand and they would face punishment both in this world and the world hereafter. Later talking to the media, the chief minister announced that a number of model bazaars were being established in various cities of the province this year where availability of quality essential items to people under a clean environment would be ensured.
