CDA working a single-road into a 2-laner

ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA) Engineer Farkhand Iqbal on Thursday emphasized on timely completion of the development projects to reap their early benefits and overcome the threats of cost escalation.

The chairman stated this while inaugurating the dualization work of Service Road (North) from I-10 to I-11.

The project comprises of 2.1 kilometer road having a width of 24 feet with allied infrastructure including 200 feet bridge, four spans of 50 feet each, culvert and replacement of the drainage system.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 85.24 million. More than 20 % physical work has already been executed and the project will be completed by the end of April 2012.

The scope of the work also includes removal of 56 electric poles from the right way and construction of 22 feet wide green belt along the road.

The CDA Chairman was apprised that the project would facilitate the traffic coming from the Kashmir Highway, 9th Avenue and adjacent highways including I J. Principal Road particularly for the transportation of the industrial material in industrial areas of sectors I-9 and I-10/3.

He directed the Engineering Wing of the Authority to gear up efforts for providing quality infrastructure to the residents of Capital.

He said that all-out efforts would be made for generation of financial resources to facilitate the timely completion of development projects. He directed the CDA workers to pull up their socks and leave no stone unturned to make Islamabad a model city.

Members of the Authority and other senior officers were also present on the occasion. (APP)
