Vacant land being converted into beautiful landscape: CM

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that vacant lands are being converted into beautiful landscape through horticulture all over the province. In this way, beautiful environment has become available to the people in their surroundings and cities have been given new identity, he added.

He expressed these views while inspecting horticulture work carried out by PHA on a government piece of land retrieved from qabza group adjacent to Kalma Chowk, here on Sunday. The DG PHA was also present on this occasion who informed the chief minister about the details of horticulture work.

Shahbaz Sharif said the provincial government under an organised programme was constructing parks and sports grounds on the plots being retrieved from qabza groups and open places. He said that facility of parks has become available to the people for recreation and playgrounds to the youth through this step. The Chief Minister said that a healthy and beautiful environment leaves positive effects on human personality. That is why the land retrieved from qabza group is being beautified through horticulture, he added.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on this occasion gave ‘Shabash’ to the gardeners and said that due to their skill and hard work, Lahorites were enjoying beautiful scenes.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of UAE in Pakistan, Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Noaimi called on the Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today. Matters relating to mutual interest were discussed during the meeting. Besides, Chairman Board of Directors of Red Crescent Society of UAE Ahmed Humaid Al-Mazrouei, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman Planning & Development and Secretary Social Welfare were also present on the occasion.

Talking to the Ambassador of UAE, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that deep friendly ties exist between Pakistan and UAE and both sides are unison on various international issues. He said that United Arab Emirates is a big economic and trade partner of Pakistan and bilateral economic relations are further expanding with the passage of time. The Chief Minister said that UAE had played an important role in the rehabilitation of flood affectees during the last flood in Pakistan. He said that the active role of UAE in the public welfare projects and development of Pakistan is commendable.

Shahbaz Sharif said that a comprehensive strategy has been evolved for rapid economic development of the province. He said that special attention has been paid to various sectors including livestock, education, health, communications and information technology. He said that Punjab Investment Board is providing complete assistance to foreign investors for investment. He asked investors of UAE to make huge investment in Punjab by benefitting from these facilities. The Chief Minister said that special attention is being paid to the uplift of livestock sector in the province and the requirements of Halal meat of UAE can be fully met.

On this occasion, Ambassador of UAE in Pakistan, Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Noaimi lauded the socio-economic development in the Punjab province. He said that Pakistan was the first country which recognized UAE. He said that Pakistani community is playing an important role in the development of UAE. The Ambassador said that we consider Pakistan as our second home and will take active part in the human welfare works in Pakistan. He disclosed that the office of Red Crescent Society of UAE has been set up in Pakistan which will help in further expanding the human welfare works. He assured that UAE will continue to play its role in development of various sectors of Pakistan.

Chairman Planning & Development Javed Aslam informed the Ambassador of UAE about the reforms made in education, public health and other sectors in the Punjab province during the meeting.
