Notices to two LDA men for forging plots’ papers

LAHORE, Sept 9: The Lahore Development Authority administration on Saturday served show-cause notices on two of its officials for their alleged involvement in preparing and processing forged documents pertaining to transfer of various plots in Mustafa Town Housing Scheme (Wahdat Road).

The notices have been served on Office Assistant Chaudhry Abbas and Junior Clerk Shukar Elahi under Section 4 of the Punjab Employees Efficiency and Discipline (PEEDA)-Act.

Abbas allegedly handed over files of seven plots bearing No MST/451, MST/451-A, MST/67, MST/655, MST/386, MST/387 and MST/45/1-A(N) to Mr Elahi in order to carry out fraudulent and forged transfer proceedings.

Shukar Elahi unlawfully kept these files with ulterior motives as all the files were retrieved from his cabinet on Sept 9, 2011, as per report of the LDA Director (Land Development-III).

VISIT: District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal on Saturday paid a surprise visit to Shahdara graveyard to monitor the on-going fumigation there. He appreciated the cleanliness at the graveyard where he ordered arrest of a fake faith healer, Malik Imtiaz. He also visited Jahangir’s Tomb and inspected the fog spray work there.

He also ordered stern action against tomb supervisor Rana Shaukat for poor cleanliness at the monument and its toilets.

TRANSFER: Additional Director General (Headquarters) Ms Mariam Kayani has ordered transfer of two officers.

Mudassar Majeed, assistant director (General Cadre), and Malik Liaqat, field officer, have been transferred and posted in the LDA Directorate of Recovery.

CRACKDOWN: In the continued crackdown, the CDGL special price control magistrates on Saturday inspected 317 shops and challaned 57 shopkeepers for overcharging and hoarding.

The officials also imposed a total fine of Rs40,700 on the shopkeepers, besides getting three FIRs lodged against them.
