Second phase of Ring Road soon: CM - Salman - 11-18-2013 12:23 PM

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that project of construction of southern loop of Lahore-Ring Road is of vital importance and government wants to initiate this project. He said that this project will be completed in a transparent manner under public-private partnership within shortest possible time.
This was stated by him during a meeting with Director General Frontier Works Organization(FWO) Maj.Gen. Muhammad Afzal here on Tuesday. Later, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. Deputy Director General FWO, Brig. Asif Akhtar gave detailed briefing about different aspects of the proposed project.
The chief minister said that infrastructure development is of paramount importance in the progress of the province and government has taken solid measures for this purpose during last five years. He said that timely and quality completion of development projects has been ensured and these projects can be compared with that of developed countries.
He said that in future infrastructure projects will be initiated under public-private partnership model as it is essential for accelerating development process in the province. The chief minister directed to constitute two sub-committees headed by Chairman Planning & Development to review southern loop project from different angles. The sub-committees will submit their reports within ten days.
He said that southern loop project will be unique with regard to quality of construction and transparency and every effort will be made to complete this project within minimum of time after settling necessary issues. He said that the project would cost billions of rupees and government intends to launch this project as soon as possible. He said that all out facilities will be extended for the completion of the project
