LAHORE: The capital city police officer (CCPO) has issued instructions for the city’s police to ensure installation of closed-circuit cameras and said on Sunday stern action would be taken in case of negligence. CCPO Haji Habibur Rehman was addressing a meeting of senior police officers. He said the police had succeeded in arresting notorious criminals in the past due to closed-circuit cameras. He urged the general public to cooperate with the police in eliminating crime from the city. He said the city’s police had busted 120 gangs of criminals and had recovered property worth Rs 141 million from their possession during the first two months of the current year. He said the police had also arrested 382 gang members and 3,582 court absconders in this period. He said 1,122 cases had been traced back to 382 proclaimed offenders who had been arrested. staff report
