Islamabad: Garbage site in H-10: IHC directs CDA DG to implement orders or face jail - Naveed Yaseen - 07-30-2009 08:10 AM

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday ordered Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) director general (DG) sanitation to inspect the garbage site in Sector H-10 and apprise the court about implementation of its order by August 3.

The absence of the DG sanitation again annoyed the single bench of Justice Muhammad Ramzan Chaudhry who remarked if the concerned official failed to comply with court’s order this time, he would be sent to Adiala jail instead of sitting in his office.

The judge said that delay in removal of trash was causing illness among the residents around the dumping site while there was a strong possibility that half of IHC’s staff would get sick due to stinking smell.

Legal advisor for Capital Development Authority Umar Hanif Advocate was present during the proceedings.

The Registrar’s report submitted to the bench had said that CDA officials despite assurance to IHC failed to comply with the court’s orders as the dumping site still existed with stingy odour in the whole area.

The CDA officials during last proceedings repeatedly assured the bench that they would stop garbage dumping at the site.

The bench has been holding proceedings on the issue after the IHC Chief Justice took suo moto notice of the matter and a separate writ on it was moved by advocate Riaz Hanif Rahi. app
