‘Tenants’ identities must be verified’: CCPO Lahore - Naveed Yaseen - 10-29-2009 07:32 AM

LAHORE: Citizens must verify the background and identity of tenants before renting out houses, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Pervaiz Rathore said in an open court on Wednesday.

The CCPO said it was the need of the hour to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to ward of any untoward incident. He said windows and doors of the vehicles should be locked while driving and no stranger should be given rides.

He directed all officials to ensure no stone unturned was left in the provision of justice to the people. He said Lahore Police was proud of its personnel, who had valiantly laid down their lives to protect the lives and property of the people. He said efficient police officials were encouraged, while stern action was being taken against officials who were negligent in duty, abused their power and did not pay heed to the complaints of citizens.

He said all officials had been directed to transform their offices into service centres in the larger interest of the public. He said a coordinated system had been evolved to closely monitor performance of officials and quickly redress public complaints.

Rathore called upon policemen to serve the people by doing justice and protecting the life and honour of the people. He also directed the station house officers (SHOs) to be polite while dealing with the people. He pledged that a massive crackdown would be carried out on criminals, including terrorists.
