CDA committed to increase green cover in capital

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Engineer Farkhand Iqbal has said that authority is committed to increase the green cover of the capital city and media should raise awareness for conservation of the environment in the region.
He expressed these views while inaugurating a tree plantation campaign in Media Town here on Friday. The media representatives were also present on the occasion. Chairman CDA assured that CDA would provide assistance for development activities in the area and would facilitate the journalist community in all possible manners. He said that CDA would plant 500,000 saplings during the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign - 2012. He said that focusing on planting species indigenous to the area such as fruit and flowering trees including Chir, Pine, Kachnar, Amaltas, Dhreak, Jacaranda, Olive and Jaman etc.
