Karachi: Post-rain measures: DHA, CBC bring situation to normalcy within 12 hours
KARACHI: Continued spell of monsoon rain that started on Sunday brought havoc to Karachi’s fragile civic infrastructure and caused inundation in large areas.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the Defense Housing Authority (DHA) and Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) responded to the challenging situation with remarkable agility and brought the situation to normalcy within 12 hours of the rains. The rainwater that partially accumulated in some low-lying areas in DHA during rain has quickly receded and 99 percent of the DHA and CBC area are mostly clear and accessible, validating the efficacy of the newly laid drainage system in DHA. The determined efforts of the staff of DHA and CBC were instrumental in bringing normalcy in the DHA area. The equipment involved in the operation, included suction pumps, water sludge tankers, cesspool vehicles and tractors. Pumping operation is underway to drain the accumulated rainwater from these areas. ppi http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg12_7 |
