Punjab: CM for early completion of land record project
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has issued directions not to further delay the Land Record Computerization Project in the province, ordering the utilisation of all resources for its speedy and transparent completion.
He was presiding over a meeting in connection with Land Record Computerization Project before his departure to London on Thursday. The chief secretary, the Planning & Development chairman, the Finance secretary and other officers concerned attended the meeting. The meeting discussed a number of proposals to implement the project came. Shahbaz Sharif said the project had been neglected for long, adding its early completion would help to get rid of the obsolete system and curtail the role of the Revenue Department officers. He said the computerization of land record would make it easy for landowner to access the land record, bringing an end to the fake and fraudulent registration of properties. He said that four firms were paid millions of rupees during the last regime for the preparation of the project software but they had done nothing for the project. The authorities concerned neither sought any explanation nor took any action against them, he said, adding the wastage of the national resources was highly regrettable and the practice would not be allowed any more. security: Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has ordered police to make foolproof security arrangements on the eve of Eid ul Azha. Before leaving for London at Lahore airport, the chief minister asked police officers present on the occasion to make special security arrangements, deputing officials in plain cloths at important points of the city.
