Sindh: High Court orders shifting of power looms from residential area
KARACHI: A division bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Salman Ansari on Thursday ordered de-sealing of power looms and their removal within a period of eight months from a purely residential area.
The bench was hearing a constitution petition filed by Irfan Ahmed and three others who owned the power loom factories, which were sealed on the orders of the Provincial Ombudsman, Sindh. The complainant stated before the bench that the petitioners established industrial units in a purely residential area. According to the respondent, the noise made by the machines was at disturbing the sleep of residents at night and causing them mental discomfort. The respondent prayed to the court to order the petitioner to vacate the residential area ending commercial /industrial activity. The bench after hearing the sides at length, disposed of the petition, ordering the petitioner to shift the machines etc by mid-Jan, 2010. The bench also ordered de-sealing of the sealed units to facilitate shifting of the machinery. staff report http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg12_7 |
