Iran withdraws higher valuation on kinno import
LAHORE: Iranian authorities on Thursday withdrew their decision of increasing valuation on Pakistani kinno imports from $400 per ton to $1,300 per ton.

According to a press release of Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Company (Phdec), the customs authorities of Iran had last week taken unilateral decision of increasing valuation of kinno imports, which had rendered Pakistani citrus fruit uncompetitive.

With the three times increase in valuation the customs duty also went up correspondingly, which further dimmed kinno export chances at the start of the season in November.

The ministry of foreign affairs, especially commercial section of the Pakistani embassy in Iran took up the matter with all quarters concerned with the kinno trade and convinced the Iranian authorities to withdraw the decision and also issue a notification in this regard.

The exporters and growers on Thursday welcomed the decision and hoped that they would not only maintain their last year’s kinno export target for Iran but would also cross the same.
