UK suspends visa operations in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD (September 24 2008): British High Commission has suspended its visa operations in Islamabad for an indefinite period after Saturday's Marriott Hotel truck bomb blast. A review of the visa application centre is currently being undertaken following the recent bombing at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad.
This review is being carried out in an effort to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our customers, reveals the British High Commission website. It is pertinent to note that Britain is one of the major partners of America's war on terror. The visa section will, therefore, remain closed until further notice. But the High Commission will continue to process applications that were lodged on or before 19 September. British Airways has also suspended its operations in Islamabad indefinitely http://www.brecorder.com/index.php?id=812663 |
