Rs 815m projects for development of rural areas
* Roads and pavements to be built in rural areas of capital

* IDWP approves projects under PSDP 2011-2012

ISLAMABAD: More than Rs 815 million will be spent on providing a better road infrastructure, including pavements, in the rural areas of Islamabad, an official source said on Friday.

The Islamabad Development Working Party (IDWP) has given formal approval to the projects for better road infrastructure and development of rural areas under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2011-2012 and Islamabad Development Package.

“The government has allocated sufficient funds for development of rural areas of Islamabad.

The new approved development projects are aimed at bringing these at par with the urban areas, and also raising the standard of living,” the source said.

The projects related to construction and improvement of roads in rural roads were approved subject to availability of funds under the PSDP.

This includes linking of Shah Allah Ditta road to Lubhana Road at an estimated cost of Rs 33.827 million, construction of a drain and soakage pit in Partal Jhang Sayedan costing Rs 24.979 million and provision of drainage facilities in IRD Markaz Sihala costing Rs 59.937 million.

Projects related to street pavement in villages of Shams Colony, Sarai Kharbuza, Bhokra and Janghi Sayedan at an estimated cost Rs 58.021 million, street pavement in villages Mera Aku and Mera Jaffar costing Rs 58.132 million, rehabilitation/improvement of road/street in Dhok Alwadi and Dhok Malach and Dhok Badam Phulgran costing Rs 58.846 million, design and construction of bridge/ street pavements at Talhar Mohalla Jalsi at an estimated cost of Rs 59.1 million have been also approved.

Other approved project include street pavement at village Kaliyah (revised) costing Rs 38.807 million, establishment of a bazaar in RD Markaz Bhara Kahu (revised) costing Rs 59.8 million, rehabilitation and improvement of main Phulgran Road, remaining portion of Sultan Gafoor and Mohra Raajpootan road costing Rs 59.87 million, rehabilitation and up-gradation of road and street pavement in Jilani, Bhara Kahu costing Rs 55.814 million, street pavement in Athal and adjoining areas at an estimated cost of Rs 50.32 million, street pavement in Millat Colony, Tarnol, dhok Hassu and Shah Allah Dita dhokes costing Rs 59.18 million, development of roads and streets in Golra sector costing Rs 56.77 million, widening of roads in Golra Sharif (revised) costing Rs 59.06 million, street pavement in 10 villages of Sihala and Rawat costing Rs 56.96, street pavement in seven villages of Koral costing Rs 39.96 million and street pavement in Mohra Nagial, Humak and Sheikhpur and Kurtana (revised) costing Rs 59.98 million.

Construction of wall and culvert in Raajwaal costing Rs 6.75 million, rehabilitation of rural roads in Sihala costing Rs 58.86 million, construction of Bhimber Taraar link road costing Rs 7.740 million, improvement of Bazaar Road Bhara Kahu costing Rs 45 million and improvement of Hussain Road Banni Gala will also be carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 20 million.

The uplift of the rural areas of Islamabad is the top priority of the Islamabad administration for which all available resources are being used, the source said.
