Bridge in H-8 sector awaits completion,

ISLAMABAD, Jan 23: Work on under construction road and bridge in sector H-8/1 could not be started even after three months due to which students of the area have to travel at least two kilometres farther to reach their alma mater.

Nimra Jamil, a student told Dawn that her educational institute is located in sector H-8/1. In past, access was given to school through a small bridge but Capital Development Authority (CDA) demolished the bridge and it was announced that a bigger bridge is going to be constructed in its place.

She said that previously some parents especially those who had to reach their offices in time used to drop their children at 9th Avenue (Agha Shahi Avenue) and children used to walk almost 400 yards to reach their educational institute.

Sohail Jamil, father of a student, said now students have to use the alternate route which is lengthy and if we want to drop the children ourselves there is a private school in the way due to which traffic remains stuck and almost half an hour extra time is required to reach there and come back.

He said that CDA should pay attention to the problem of parents and students and bridge should be constructed as soon as possible.

Spokesman for CDA, Ramzan Sajid said it was not in his knowledge why the bridge could not be constructed. Anyhow, he said, he would ask the relevant department and the matter would be resolved soon
