KP Government Called on to Protect Heritage Sites
Peshawar: The Sarhad Conservation Network, Da Laas Gul and Frontier Heritage Trust have requested the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to implement the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Antiquity Act to stop developers from demolishing heritage buildings.

In a joint letter sent to the government, these organisations stated that the tuberculosis ward of the historic Lady Reading Hospital had been razed by the hospital administration despite its historical importance, adding that the ward had been built in 1936 to pay tribute to Col Sir Charles Brierley for his 28 years of medical service.

The organisations also stated that heritage buildings older than 70 years were protected by law under the federal and provincial antiquity acts.
