Punjab: Cops, judges salaries raised to ensure justice: CM
CHIEF Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that the government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the province is striving to provide justice and ensure due status to the oppressed in society.

He was addressing parliamentarians from different districts during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Friday. The meeting reviewed development projects and matters regarding provision of basic amenities in various districts.

Mr Shahbaz said the government was expeditiously executing a number of development projects, which would improve the standard of living of the common man. He said solid measures were being taken to strengthen the subordinate judiciary for the provision of prompt and inexpensive justice to people and a threefold increase was made in the salaries of its judges.

He said an effective strategy had been evolved for protection of life and property of people and the salaries and allowances of police were enhanced besides they had been provided the latest weapons and training. He said it was the responsibility of police to come up to the expectations of the masses and bring about positive and visible changes in the Thana culture. The CM said service of people and solution to their problems were the mission of his government, adding that the government was working for rapid development of the province and the uplift of backward areas and economic activities had been accelerated for the purpose. He stressed upon the MPs to maintain a close contact with people and ensure implementation of public welfare projects in a transparent manner.

Mr Shahbaz said the government was spending billions of rupees on development projects for providing health, education, water supply and other amenities to the common man. He said special attention was being paid to quality education and a big project of setting up of Danish schools was being implemented in the province. He said that boarding and lodging facility would also be available in Danish schools, adding that due emphasis was also being laid on teachers’ training.

The chief minister said in order to provide modern health facilities to people, centres of excellence were being established and availability of doctors, paramedics, medicines and equipments was being ensured in hospitals across the province.

Meanwhile, during a meeting with Pak-Oman Asset Management Company Limited Chairman Yahya Bin Said Bin Abdullah Al-Jabri at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Mian Shahbaz Sharif said the company was playing a significant role for promoting trade between Pakistan and Oman.

The chief minister said Pakistan was rich in natural resources and there was a wide scope of investment in agriculture, livestock and agro-based industries in the province. He said Pakistan could export agri-products to Saudi Arabia, Oman and other countries of the Middle East and Pakistan and Oman could launch joint ventures in this regard. He said Punjab had large coal reserves which could be utilised for energy generation and the company could also invest in this sector. Mr Shahbaz said Pakistan was currently facing security problems but all possible measures were being taken for the elimination of terrorism and militancy to establish a peaceful society and attract foreign investment. He said the Punjab Board of Investment had been established to encouraging and provide all-out facilities to foreign investors, adding that the company should provide loans for different projects in the province.

Yahya Bin Said Bin Abdullah Al-Jabri said his company was making investment in different sectors and it had many branches in Pakistan. He showed interest in cooperation in various sectors, saying exchange of delegations would not only open new avenues of cooperation but also strengthen trade relations.
