Total solar eclipse (snaps)

This combo photograph shows the different stages of the total solar eclipse as seen from two locations in India on Wednesday. The first two photographs were shot from Sipajhar, 50 kilometres north of Gauhati, and the rest were shot from Baihata, 35 kilometres west of Gauhati. (Below) A woman sits with her paralysed child half buried in sand on the bank of the River Indus in Hyderabad, Pakistan, during the solar eclipse. Some people believe that a total eclipse of the sun would allow their paralysed children to walk. ap/afp
