Rawalpindi Commissioner Confirms Limited Access to Rawalpindi Ring Road for Housing Societies

In a recent announcement, Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha clarified that housing societies will not have direct access to the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR). The access will be limited to only five designated interchanges, as reported by news sources on January 9.

Commissioner Chatha personally inspected the ongoing work during a visit to the camp office at Khalsa Khurd for the Ring Road Project. The visit included a comprehensive briefing on the project's progress and a survey of the construction by road from Khalsa Khudarad to Thalian Interchange. According to briefings from officials of NESPAK and Frontier Works Organization (FWO), 15% of the construction work has already been completed, reassuring the commissioner that the project is on track to meet its deadline.

Highlighting the significance of the project, Commissioner Chatta emphasized that the interchanges on the ring road should be named after villages. The current plans include five interchanges, 11 overhead bridges, 15 underpasses, 53 bridges, and a designated rest area.

This decision to limit direct access aims to manage traffic flow and ensure the controlled development of the Rawalpindi Ring Road. The announcement provides clarity to housing societies and underscores the careful planning and execution of the project, which is expected to significantly enhance connectivity in the region.
