Two five-marla plots for martyrs - Lahore_Real_Estate - 04-23-2010 10:55 AM Friday, April 23, 2010 By Our Correspondent LAHORE THE Punjab government Thursday notified that five per cent quota of plots in all Jinnah Abadi Schemes will be reserved for army and police martyrs who die fighting terror. According to an amended notification, legal heirs of every martyr will be given two plots of five-marla each in Jinnah Abadi Schemes. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Thursday said that transparent utilization of development funds is a national responsibility and the government was promoting transparency in projects. The CM was addressing a meeting to review work on Lahore Ring project. He said that the era of loot and plunder is over and no one will be allowed to violate the rights of the masses. He said that timely completion of uplift projects is being ensured and their standard can be compared with that of developed countries. The CM said that infrastructure was of vital importance for the development of a country and a network of roads, bridges and flyovers was being laid in the province. He said that all resources were being utilized for the welfare of masses and timely completion of development projects was being ensured for the benefit of the people. He said that Lahore Ring Road project was initiated by PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif but after the toppling of the democratic government this project was shelved. Billions of rupees, however, were minted through property business under this project, he said. He said that loot and plunder on the pretext of development projects was rampant during the tenure of the former government and not a single project was completed within timeframe. The present government was bearing huge additional expenses because of the previous government’s plunder, he added. The CM said that another important project, Lahore Kasur Road was also delayed due to corruption and criminal negligence but the present government was trying to complete this project soon. He said that corruption-free culture had been revived after ten years and development projects were being completed in a transparent manner. He said that the third-party audit policy was being strictly implemented for ensuring proper utilization of every penny of development funds. He said that Madre Millat and Shaukat Ali Road, Sagian and Shalimar Interchange, Lahore Ring Road Package 6, 7 & 9 were masterpieces of construction work and besides provision of modern communication facilities, will also result in a positive impact on the development process. The CM said that horticulture was being promoted in development projects. He said the PHA had an army of gardeners and the government was bearing huge expenses on their salaries. He said that service of gardeners of PHA should be utilized for maximum tree plantation in the province. He also issued instructions to evolve a master plan of horticulture on Lahore Ring Road Project. He said that after completion of northern loop of Lahore Ring Road, the people will use this passage during rush hours and steps should be taken for road safety besides construction of bridges and erecting of fences to ward off the possibility of any unpleasant incident. The CM said that he will visit various parts of Lahore Ring Road to review the pace of work. The CM on his return from Islamabad, visited Lahore Ring Road and reviewed the work of horticulture, tree plantation and landscaping. |
