All-out efforts being made for Aafia's return: Rehman condemns airspace violation by - Lahore_Real_Estate - 09-29-2010 01:34 PM ISLAMABAD (September 29 2010): Minister for Interior Rehman Malik has condemned the violation of Pakistan's air space by Nato forces, saying that no compromise would be made on national security and sovereignty. "Pakistan is a frontline state in war against terrorism and has played a great role in elimination of terrorism. Therefore, any attempt to violate Pakistan's territory would disrupt the entire process of anti-terrorism war," he said while talking to media outside Parliament House on Tuesday. He said that the government has evolved a multi-pronged security plan after security threats to Judges. "The Prime Minister will announce a committee consisting of Judges of Lahore High Court, Balochistan High Court and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa High Court, who will probe the assassination plot of LHC Chief Justice Khwaja Sharif", he added. About his pardon by President Zardari, the Minister said, "If I was granted pardon by President Zardari, Nawaz Sharif also enjoyed the same facility. Why is he not being targeted?" He said that repatriation of Dr Aafia "is extremely necessary", and in this regard a special consultative meeting was held in Interior Ministry in which Dr Fauzia was specially invited. He said that all-out efforts were being made for her return, and both legal and political channels would be used for this purpose. He said that consultation has been started for ensuring early return of Dr Aafia. Family members of Dr Aafia and her lawyers, who were pleading her case in US, would be taken into confidence and every future step would be taken with their consultation, Rehman said. He said that a meeting was held in which Secretary Interior, Secretary Foreign, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Law & Justice and Deputy Attorney General participated and on special invitation Bilal Sufi, prominent lawyer, and Dr Fauzia attended. A committee was constituted to find means and ways regarding her early return, he added. He said that the lawyers of Dr Aafia were called from the US and future strategy would be evolved with their consultation. |
