Islamabad: 2 per cent quota for non-journalist media staff in housing schemes - Naveed Yaseen - 09-25-2008 07:22 AM Federal Minister for Housing and Works Rehmatullah Kakar has announced two per cent quota for non-journalist staff of media organisations in future housing schemes including Prime Minister’s housing scheme. He was talking to reporters after holding computerised balloting for Sector G-14/4 here Tuesday. He said that in all housing schemes in future two percent quota will be allocated for non-journalist staff of print and electronic media. Presently, three percent quota has been reserved in housing schemes for working journalists while there was no reserve quota for non-journalist staff.It was a long standing demand of non-journalist staff of media organisations which has been fulfilled today, Kakar said. The minister said that government is aware of the housing problem of government employees and general public and was working on war footing to meet shortage of houses. A total of 1,410 employees of Quaid-i-Azam University and Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation were allotted plots in G-14/4 According to the balloting results, 754 plots were allotted to employees of Quaid-i-Azam University and 656 to employees of Housing Foundation. Under the draw, 125 plots were allotted in category-I, 153 in category-II, 215 in category-III, 185 in category-IV and 319 in category-V. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=137896 |
