Zardari says corruption taints govt. institutions - Lahore_Real_Estate - 11-16-2010 01:51 PM ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday stressed that the long-term sustainable socio-economic development of Pakistan remained final focus of efforts of the government. Admitting the hazards of corruption, the president said embezzlement has tainted most institutions of government, which are heading to make Pakistan a failure state and will leave no room for democracy in country. However, he hoped his government would overcome the weaknesses as the time goes by and such hopeful results can be evident from the policy of reconciliation, which his government has adopted since its inception. Addressing delegates of Pakistan Development Forum (PDF) here at President House on Monday, President Zardari said floods have affected the immediate economic priorities and shifted the focus for a while towards short and medium-term requirements. “It is time to make bold decisions otherwise it will be too late to make revamp and to overhauling of country,” Zardari declared. He said the government has developed a forward plan to reconstruct the destroyed infrastructure and rebuild the economy after the devastating floods. He said Pakistan arranged Pakistan Development Forum (PDF) to let the world know that it has withstood the crises and is moving forward with determination. The President thanked the international community for its financial support and said Pakistan needs more meaningful help to carry forward its socio-economic agenda. |
