Amir wants quick verdict from ICC - Lahore_Real_Estate - 12-23-2010 01:54 PM KARACHI: Pakistan’s suspended fast bowler Mohammad Amir is against the idea of delaying next month’s spot-fixing hearing as he is looking for a quick verdict on the issue. Amir was suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) last August along with fellow Pakistan players Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif following allegations of corruption. The three players have been asked to appear before an independent tribunal for a hearing in Doha from January 6-11. The trio could be banned for life if found guilty of spot-fixing. Salman Butt has urged the ICC to delay the hearing after which the game’s governing body has summoned a teleconference in which lawyers representing the three players will give their views on a request by Butt to delay the hearing. However, Amir declared on Tuesday that he doesn’t want the hearing to be delayed. Speaking at Geo’s morning show on Tuesday, Amir said that he wants a quick verdict so that he can make the cut for Pakistan’s team for World Cup 2011 that gets underway in February. |
