Lahore Shopping Festival to expedite trade activities in region - Lahore_Real_Estate - 04-01-2011 12:20 PM LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Acting President, Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, while giving details about the Lahore Shopping Festival 2011, said that it would not only expedite trade and business activities in the country but would also highlight a soft image of the country which could bring back investors to the region. He said that the festival encompasses a range of business and cultural activities. He informed that the festival includes the First Punjab Expo 2011 that would be arranged at the Lahore Expo Centre from April 8. It would be a three-day event where as many as 250 renowned business groups would showcase their products and on the sidelines of this exhibition an investment conference would also be held. At the conference, a methodology to overcome the economic challenges being faced by the country would be presented to the government. The First Punjab Expo would be “made in Punjab” in the true sense of the word. He said that Shahbaz Sharif has assured his full support and cooperation for the event. Arshad also said that a business walk, a vintage car rally, a motorcycle rally, a cycle rally, a shopping mela, a fashion show, a photography competition, an investment conference, a business plan competition and a polo match are among the other events of the festival. He said that the very objective of the Lahore Shopping Festival is to expedite the business activities in this part of the country. He said that not only the top-notch businessmen would be participating in the festival but also all the ambassadors posted in Pakistan would be invited to this event. Separately, two qualifying rounds for a Qirat Competition concluded on Thursday at the LCCI. A total of 89 males and females took part in the qualifying rounds, out of which 12 male and six female candidates qualified for the final competition due on April 4. Renowned religious scholars Hafiz Amjad Ubaid of Jamia Ashrafia and Hafiz Muhammad Rafique Naqashbandi are the competition’s judges while Hafiz Naeemullah, Hafiz Sher Muhammad, Qari Muhammad Ishfaq and Hafiz Amir Alam are performing as their deputies. Arshad presided over the qualifying rounds while Executive Committee Member Mian Zahid Javaid was also present on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion, Arshad thanked all the participants for taking part in the LCCI Qirat Competition. He said that the LCCI management has decided to make the Qirat Competition an annual event and a Naat competition would also be added to the event list. He also thanked the judges for sparing time for the event. |
