Shahbaz shows the difference - Lahore_Real_Estate - 09-07-2011 12:55 PM LAHORE was back to normal after a prolonged Eid vacation and mass outward traffic to make it an unusually quieter city for five days. However, with the reopening of educational institutions, offices and market, city resumed its normal pace and traffic congestion once again. The city’s new landmark flyover at Kalma Chowk, built in a record time, has been a most welcome and refreshing experience for citizens on what was the heavily congested inter-city Ferozepur Road. The traffic towards Model Town, Defence, Kot Lakhpat and Kasur now moves freely and without any hassle. Similarly no more problems for crossing Kalma Chowk towards Garden Town, Faisal Town, Punjab University and other areas located on that side. It has been a blessing no doubt, thanks to the vision of the Chief Minister Shahbaz and his team to rid the whole city of its many complications and problems left by the past regime for its harassed population. Seen after the completion of major portion of Ring Road, Thokar Niaz Beg outlet and speedy expansion of Multan Road, currently underway, one can imagine the speed and serious intent with which present administration has been moving to redeem its pledges. A series of other initiatives like Ashiana Housing Scheme, Yellow Cab Scheme and various moves in health and educational sectors, are enough to show that things are moving at a fast pace. Punjab Chief Minister has been virtually working round-the-clock and even on the weekends to pursue his avowed goals. One of his singular move has been provision of healthy environment to the people and removing garbage from the cities as one of the priorities of his government. His aim is to make Lahore to reclaim its pristine condition of being one of the cleanest cities as in the past. Another significant move is to revamp its transport system within the shortest possible time. His urgent move to set up 3 temporary hospitals in flood affected areas of Sindh and earlier projects of setting up a cardiology centre in Balochistan and a hospital in Swat have shown him to be a leader truly in a national mould. It is quite natural that these things are providing an uneasy time to his detractors who keep on harping about imaginary and concocted facts and figures. It is quite a known and established fact that they themselves had done precious little during their own tenure and left a plethora of unfinished, ill-conceived and bungled up projects causing huge financial losses due to lack of proper supervision and corruption. Let us hope they coolly reflect the whole matter in their mind and not embarrass themselves with such unnecessary and illogical criticism, which could only end up with an egg on their face, rather then any point scoring. |
