LDA allocates land for two hospitals - Salman - 01-10-2012 12:35 PM LDA allocates land for two hospitals LAHORE, Jan 9: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) decided on Monday to allot land to the Health Department for two hospitals in the city. According to a handout, the first hospital will be built on 50 kanals and 14 marlas near a match factory on GT Road, Shahdara, and another on 27 kanals at Civic Centre in Township. The decision was taken at a meeting of the LDA governing body, presided over by District Coordination Officer (also LDA chairman) Abad Cheema. The participants also decided to establish a directorate to monitor development works in private housing schemes approved by the LDA. The meeting also approved arranging funds for an underconstruction commercial-cumcar parking plaza in Moon Market, Iqbal Town, through LDA`s own sources and to sell 67 shops in the plaza to carn revenue. It also approved a pedestrian overhead bridge at Maulana Shaukat Ali Road in front of Jinnah Hospital at a cost of Rs37.226 million. It also approved a proposal for the construction of a road to link Bahawalpur Road with Lytton Road at Qartaba Chowk besides rehabilitating Maulana Shabbir Usmani Road from New Garden Town to Faisal Town Roundabout. The body approved revised estimates for the improvement and rehabilitation of Ferozepur Road (from Qartaba Chowk to Chungi Amer Sidhu), which would cost Rs172.791 million. The authority also allowed the construction of a sports club at 108-Ravi Road costing Rs58.226 million. The club will consist of two badminton courts, a table tennis court, a basket ball court, a gym, two tennis courts, two volleyball courts, a kabadi ground and a wrestling ring. The meeting was attended, among others, by LDA ViceChairman Aamir Asghar, Wasa Vice-Chairman Haji Sharif, LDA Director General Abdul Jabbar Shaheen and Wasa Managing Director Dr Javed Iqbal. |
