CDA to set up weekly bazaars in capital’s rural areas - Salman - 01-26-2012 01:26 PM CDA to set up weekly bazaars in capital’s rural areas ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) will extend its network of weekly bazaars to the rural areas of Islamabad to facilitate local residents and provide them with commodities at cheaper rates. Chairman CDA, Engineer Farkhand Iqbal made this statement on Wednesday while inspecting the construction of a weekly bazaar in Bhara Kahu. The CDA has shaped Master plan under Bullet Operate and Transfer formula to set up weekly bazaars near Khanna Pull, Humak and model Town. The first bazaar will be setup at Bhara Kahu in next week with 600 stalls. Municipal Administration director, Enforcement director, Works director and other senior officers of the CDA were also present at the site. CDA chairman said that Bhara Kahu connects many rural populations in the area and that the weekly bazaar would provide people with commodities of daily use at cheaper prices. He said the CDA will soon construct more weekly bazaars in other parts of the rural areas around the federal capital. Iqbal was told the weekly bazaar will cover an area of 4 acres with 671 stalls. 575 stalls have already been constructed. Soon six entry gates will be constructed as well. Work on boundary wall around the weekly bazaar has also been completed. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2.81 million. Chairman Iqbal directed the Engineering Wing of the authority to complete the development work at a faster pace and has ordered entrance to bazaar be connected with the 3rd Avenue area to accommodate more people. He has also directed the DMA and Works Wing to complete their work more quickly and allot stalls to the most deserving people. Also, the CDA has chosen a site for the F-11 weekly bazaar but is temporarily being setup at the G-10 sector. |
