Punjab: CM for security of citizens - Naveed Yaseen - 10-09-2008 06:30 AM PUNJAB Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed authorities concerned to use all resources for the protection of life and property of citizens. He was presiding over a meeting to review law and order situation in the province on Wednesday. Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Advisers to Chief Minister Saeed Mehdi, Jahanzeb Burki, Member National Assembly Sahibzada Fazal Karim, the home secretary, the inspector general of police and senior officers were present there. The chief minister ordered making DPO Bhakkar an OSD over dereliction of duty. The chief minister directed to revise and beef up security arrangements. He warned that no laxity would be tolerated in this regard. The chief minister said the government was taking steps to cope with the challenge of terrorism but the government efforts could not succeed without the cooperation of the people. He said every patriotic Pakistani should come forward and play his due role in this regard. He said that only those nations survived which faced every challenge with courage and determination. As a living nation we should spare no effort to counter terrorism, he said. He said terrorists were enemies of humanity and collective efforts were needed to eliminate the scourge of terrorism. He said security and search system at entry and exit points of the city should be improved and close circuit cameras should be installed. He said efforts on war footing should be made to root out terrorism. He directed formation of a high-level committee to formulate recommendations to improve law and order. The committee would submit it recommendations to the chief minister within three days. The chief minister said coordination between agencies should be improved in order to deal with violence and crime. He said every member of the police fore should play an active role for the protection of life and property of citizens.
