Mareer Chowk tunnel project would be started soon as - Salman - 05-19-2012 12:11 PM Mareer Chowk tunnel project would be started soon as Rawalpindi : the Punjab governmenthas approved Rs429 million grant for it. Earlier, the PC-1 of the project was sent to the Punjab government for final approval and grant for the project. Rawalpindi Commissioner Imdadullah Bosal talking to APP said that the work on the tunnel project would be started soon. To a question, he informed that work on side roads of the Chandni Chowk Flyoverproject was completed on Thursday. Earlier, the deadline of May 10 was given to the contractor for completion of work on roads but due to rains side roads could not be completed. He further said that inthe first phase of the mega project of Chur Chowk, widening work has been started which would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs475 million.The work for widening of Pirwadhai Morr would be started in second phase, which would be completed with an estimated cost of Rs1,650 million. Imdadullah Bosal said that with special development funds from Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif under the city package various mega development projects had been completed while construction work on some projects is continuing and a few projects are in the pipeline. He said that the Chandni Chowk Flyover had beencompleted with the cost Rs1.26 billion and the widening of roads on both sides of Chur Chowk has been started.This road would be made signal-free. Similarly, the underpass on Pirwadhai Morr to connect the traffic of G T Road from Taxila side with I J Principal Road would be started soon after receiving of development fundsfrom the provincial government. |
