CM invites Chinese investment in energy and mining

LAHORE - China Investment Corporation President Dr Fan Kung Sheng met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Monday. Matters regarding investment in energy, mining and infrastructure sectors were discussed on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said there were vast opportunities for investment in the energy, mining and infrastructure sectors in the province. He said a favorable atmosphere for investment had been created in the province and that all facilities were being offered to entrepreneurs under one roof.
He said Chinese investors can invest in energy, mining and infrastructure sectors and that the government was promoting investments under public-private partnership.
Shahbaz stated that the provincial government was working on various projects for power generation through hydro, bagasse, coal, solar, biogas and other sources. He said there were vast reserves of coal in Punjab and power generation projects from coal can also be implemented. He added that Punjab has large reserves of iron ore which is of the highest standard.
The chief minister said the planning phase had been completed for the construction of the Rawalpindi Ring Road and the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, adding that Chinese investors can consider investing in these projects.
China Investment Corporation President Dr Fan Kung Sheng talked about the investment made by his company in various countries and said Punjab was the hub of economic activities and his company was interested in investing in the province.
