LDA okays development projects - Salman - 03-18-2013 05:12 PM LAHORE – The Lahore Development Authority has approved construction of approach road from Gulshan-e-Ravi to Band Road , along Cantt drain, at a cost of Rs 60 million besides giving a go ahead for construction of a new link road from Bhogiwal Road to China Road, Gujjerpura at a cost of Rs 47.76 million. These decisions were taken at the Governing Body meeting of LDA held on Saturday with District Coordination Officer and Chairman LDA Noor-ul-Amin Mengal in the chair. Vice Chairman LDA Amir Asgher Dar, Director General LDA Ahad Khan Cheema, Additional DG (HQ) Mariam Kayani, Additional DG (Housing) Muhammad Usman, Chief Metropolitan Planner Waseem Ahmad Khan, Chief Town Planner Ch Muhammad Akram, Chief Engineer LDA Asrar Saeed Khan and representatives of the Local Government, Housing, P&D and Finance Departments besides administrators of nine constituent towns of the City District Government. The meeting decided that the Town Planning Wing of LDA will exercise building control over existing structures; re-built and new constructions in 153 declared and transferred Katchi Abadis in the City. The meeting allowed WASA to execute project for laying of water supply system including installation of tube-well and overhead reservoir at Finance and Trade Centre M A Johar Town, Lahore at a cost of Rs.180 million where as provision of sewerage System at this place will cost Rs 71 million. The meeting constituted an executive committee headed by DG LDA for running day-to-day affairs of the newly-constructed sports complex at Johar Town on self-sustenance basis. It also approved strengthening of Directorate of Computer Services. However, the demand for new professionals will be rationalized in consultation with Punjab Information Technology Board. Wasa scheme: Managing Director WASA Mian Muhammad Abdullah along with Deputy Assistant Director South Asia; JICA, Ms Fuyuko OHKI on Saturday inaugurated the developmental work of Punjab Water and Sanitation Academy at Township. DMD (O&M) Syed Iqtidar Ali Shah, Director (P&E) Shakeel Ahmed Kashmiri, Anwar ul Haq, members of JICA delegation and other concerned WASA officers were present. Mian Muhammad Abdullah briefed the delegation about the progress of JICA funded projects. He told that with the construction of Academy the capacity of WASA officers and staff will be enhanced. He maintained that the training would be imparted on latest lines, enabling the participants to cope with any situation. He told that the contract of the academy has been awarded. He said that the Academy would be constructed on 12135 square feet at an estimated cost of Rs 484.81 million. He said that the Academy would be completed by November this year. At the end, Ms Fuyuko OHKI appreciated the pace and quality of work of JICA funded projects. |
