CDA to get encroached land back with Rangers’ help - Salman - 04-08-2013 05:08 PM ISLAMABAD- The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to hire the services of Punjab Rangers to get vacate its land from illegal occupants. Sources said CDA management has taken the decision to secure possession of its vacant plots from the illegal occupants in the light of Supreme Court (SC) orders. CDA gas started talks with Islamabad administration on this count.Development work in the sectors including F-12, F-13, F-14,G-12,D-12 and E-12 could not be undertaken being the vast tracts of land of these sectors under the occupation of land mafia. The occupants say that they are the legitimate owners of these plots and are living therein since the last several decades, therefore, they be allotted alternative plots in developed sectors otherwise they will not vacate them. CDA Member State Shaista Sohail said CDA has started consultation process with Islamabad administration through formal channels in this connection. CDA has sent letter to ICT administration to seek services of Punjab Rangers but no reply has been received so far from ICT, she added. Meanwhile, the District Government Rawalpindi has ordered complete elimination of encroachments along drainages by May 20. A notification in this regard has been issued.DCO Rawalpindi Saqib Zafar banning setting up of encroachments along the drainages has directed for determining limits of 105 drainages in the district by May 5. There are 15 drainages in Rawalpindi. A buffer zone would be set up along the banks of the drainages for determining the limits as well as for using heavy machinery for their declination. He also directed that all encroachments along the drainages be removed by May 20 and measures be taken for stopping them from being set up in the future as well. |
