CDA to launch topographical survey of C-15-16, I-12 - Salman - 04-11-2013 03:14 PM ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) would soon launch the topographical survey of three residential sectors of C-15, C-16 and I-12 to assess the natural and man-made features of the area for onward compensation to the owners. The CDA has invited the interested firms to conduct the survey of said three sectors with each spreading over 5,000 kanals. According to a CDA official, following the survey, the CDA would start compensating the owners of the properties of these sectors to pave way for the development of the sector. The official said the hiring of the surveying firm would be finalized within a month and as much time would be required to accomplish the task.He said both the sectors would be used for residential purpose hoping that it would remarkably bridge the housing deficit that has swelled to above 80,000.He said the city administration has already imposed sector 144 in the area banning any construction in the area because usually the people raise new structures to establish their right for compensation. The official said the sector C-16 would accommodate both the affected people and general public, adding it would provide space for construction of 5,500 housing units, including 2,500 for affected people. The sectors fall near Nicholson Monument that is close to the GT Road. To link both these sectors with central Islamabad, the CDA has already started construction of Margalla Avenue Project that would also connect the federal capital with GT Road and Motorway. Since its establishment in 1960s, the CDA could only develop 27 sectors, though its ordinance places housing provision at its top duty.In the basic layout plan of Islamabad, 60 sectors have been designed for mixed use over 55,000 acres of land. The sectors, which are yet in developing phase, include D-12, E-11, I-14, I-15 and I-16, whereas the land for C 13, 14, 15, 16, D-13, E-13, F-13 and H-16 is yet to be acquired and after being developed, all sectors will provide 30,000 units. |
