CDA spares Rs6 million for Water Management Wing - Salman - 05-29-2013 11:43 AM Islamabad The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has spared an amount of Rs6 million for its Water Management Wing to repair water tankers to ensure smooth water distribution in the metropolis. This was stated by CDA Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz on the occasion of launching ceremony of the sector-wise ‘Clean and Green Islamabad’ campaign in Sector F-10 here on Monday. He said that in addition to allocation of funds, the CDA would not only purchase new power generators but also shift generators, installed at different CDA offices, to the sites of tube wells for smooth supply of water in sectors of ‘I’ and ‘G’ series. On the occasion, the chief coordinator of the ‘Clean and Green Islamabad’ campaign and Member Planning and Design Syed Mustafain Kazmi, Member Administration Munir Ahmad Chaudhry, Member Engineering Sanaullah Aman, Coordinator ‘Clean and Green Islamabad’ campaign and Director General Rawal Khan Maitla, schoolchildren, members of civil society, members of the citizens committee and traders were present on the occasion. The participants of the campaign also took part in an awareness walk on ‘Clean and Green Islamabad’ campaign. The schoolchildren displayed placards inscribed with awareness slogans on neat and clean Islamabad. The CDA chairman said that the civic body has sufficient stock of water in its reservoirs but due to power outages the residents of those sectors are facing water shortage where water is supplied through tube wells. He said that repair and maintenance of water tankers and installation of generators at the sites of tube wells would help reduce water complaints. Syed Tahir Shahbaz said that the sector-wise ‘Clean and Green Islamabad’ campaign started about one and a half months back from Sector I-10 and phase-wise shifted to different sectors of Islamabad. The consistency of this campaign shows that the residents of Islamabad are taking keen interest in keeping Islamabad clean and green. |
