CDA to hold auction of commercial plots - Salman - 10-10-2013 01:42 PM
Islamabad : Trying to recover from misadventure of sale of residential plots in sectors D-12 and E-12, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) would now go for auction of commercial plots in different shopping areas in the second week of next month.
Despite hectic publicity campaign by the civic body, the authority could attract only 37 buyers of residential plots in two sectors where nearly 500 plots were offered for sale through balloting which was conducted on Monday (October 7).
A senior official of CDA, however, said the situation in case of open auction of commercial plots would be quite different. “I am sure it will not be yet another misadventure and we will be able to earn a lucrative amount from next month’s exercise,” the official said.
So far the planning and Estate wings have identified two dozen commercial plots in different Marakiz of Islamabad. These include one plot in F-8 Markaz, one in G-8 Markaz, six plots in I-8 Markaz, five in G-9 Markaz, five in F-11, four plots in G-11 Markaz two plots in I-11/4 Fruits and Vegetable Market.
The sources said the CDA also wanted to include commercial plot located in F-7 and F-10 Markaz but deferred the plan due to litigation problems.
There is also suggestion that six plots located in Class-III shopping centres should also be offered for sale through open auction.
Earlier, there was plan to hold auction of commercial plots by end of this month but it was delayed due to get more time to prepare for the event after Eidul Azha.
