Park Enclave Housing Project, Senate Committee took notice of development - Salman - 01-08-2014 02:44 PM Islamabad (DailyTimes / Wednesday, January 8, 2014) – Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat and Capital Administration Development Division on Tuesday grilled top management of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) which has failed to complete Park Enclave project. The committee noted that a private developer’s project in the same areas is in an advanced stage. It was of the view that officials of the CDA do not want to serve the people. It noted that people have deposited billions of rupees to the civic body to allotment of plots in the Park Enclave but the authority has even failed to construct the boundary wall of the housing society for the last two years. The committee said that the management of the CDA kept giving assurances to the parliamentarians about initiating developmental work but they came with excuses and justifications later. CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal, who took charge of the post recently, assured the committee that a lot of progress will be made within five weeks over various developmental works, including Park Enclave. He said after the approval of the PC-1 of the project by the CDA-Development Working Party, awards will be announced and then all work will be completed within six months. The technical wing of the CDA has already approved PC-1 and now it requires approval from CDA-DWP, he maintained. “There is no problem of funding for Park Enclave project and the authority has collected Rs 2.9 billion from the allottees,” Afzal stated. He told the committee that some locals have been creating problems in the execution of the project. The CDA chairman assured the committee that the incumbent management of CDA is fully committed to completing this project as early as possible. “All efforts are being made to put the project on the right track and complete the development works on fast track basis. The results will be significantly visible in short period of time but it is difficult to complete the work by March this year,” he said. |
