Punjab CM approves renaming Apparel Park as Quaid-e-Azam - Salman - 03-18-2014 02:35 PM Punjab CM approves renaming Apparel Park as Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister of the Punjab province in Pakistan, has given his approval to changing the name of the Punjab Apparel Park to Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park Punjab, The Nation reported. The Government of Punjab was taking a number of measures for the promotion of textile industry and a modern park was being established with state-of-the-art facilities, Mr. Sharif said while presiding over a meeting related to promotion of the textile sector and the project for setting up Punjab Apparel Park in Lahore, last week. Mr. Sharif said there would be a sharp increase in Pakistani exports, particularly textiles and apparel, as the EU has granted its GSP Plus status to Pakistan because of which Pakistan products can now enter the EU markets at zero-duty. To take full benefit of the EU’s GSP Plus facility for improving textile and garment exports and for creating new employment opportunities, the work for setting up the Punjab Apparel Park, which is to be renamed as Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park, would be carried out day-and-night for early completion of the project, the Chief Minister said. Speaking about his recent visit to China, Mr. Sharif said Shandong Ruyi Group has shown interest to cooperate in setting up of the Apparel Park and promotion of the textile sector, and it would also be investing US$ 119 million in the Apparel Park. He informed that a delegation from Punjab would soon visit industrial zone in various cities of China, including the industrial park of the Shandong Ruyi Group. |
