Zardari inaugurated worlds 7th largest mosque located in Bahria Town Lahore - Salman - 10-15-2014 01:59 PM LAHORE: Former President Asif Ali Zardari inaugurated worlds 7th largest mosque located in Bahria Town here. Zardari performed the curtain raising ceremony, says a press release. Many religious scholars, government officials, dignitaries and a large number of people from the general public were present. They made a tour of both, the internal and external areas of the mosque and highly appreciated its beauty. Asif Zardari stated that this mosque is undoubtedly a magnificent work of Islamic architecture adding that the mosque is a generous act of humanity and a priceless gift for Bahria Town as well as the Pakistani nation. He further stated that I pray to Allah Almighty to give everyone the gift of generosity in the same manner He has given to Malik Riaz Hussain. Chairman Bahria Town, Malik Riaz Hussain stated that the mosque is Allah’s home and all the resources utilized for its construction have been provided by the grace of the Almighty. He further stated that it is only the Almighty who has made the completion of this mosque possible. Malik Riaz Hussain said that in 2006 he offered Eid prayers in Malaysia, at the Mahathir Mohamad Mosque and prayed to the Almighty to give him a chance to make a similar mosque in Pakistan and today his prayers have been answered. He said by the grace of Allah, he would build an even bigger mosque in Karachi. The cost to complete this beautiful piece of Islamic architecture was Rs4 billion and has an outdoor capacity of 70,000 and an indoor capacity of 25,000, officially labeling it as Pakistan’s largest mosque. Truly a masterpiece, the interior is absolutely magnificent with breathtaking interiors, representing the fusion of traditional Islamic architecture with the Pakistani culture. The carpet has been custom-made from Turkey and there are over 50 luminous chandeliers that have been imported from Iran, creating a vibrant Islamic ambiance. The structure comprises of 4 minarets, each standing tall at 165 ft and a Grand Dome in the center, which is surrounded by 20 smaller domes. The most fascinating feature about this masterpiece is that the exterior consists of 4 million, 2.5 inch Multani tiles which have been handmade with special Multanimitti and hand placed by the craftsmen, it took 4 years alone to complete.
