CDA to ensure strict monitoring of its land
Tuesday, August 11, 2015 - Islamabad—Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Monday ordered immediate action against officers and personnel of Capital Development Authority (CDA) for becoming facilitators in setting up of illegal slums in Islamabad.
Building of illegal slums in Islamabad is not possible without the connivance of CDA personnel.
The minister said immediate action should be taken against officials who allowed the land grabbers to grow as the illegal settlements were made.
The Interior Minister made it a condition that Islamabad police and administration would help the CDA in future operations against slum dwellings when action would be taken against black sheep in the department.
The minister instructed setting up of committee for end of corruption in CDA.
The minister issued these instructions in a briefing related to operation against illegal slums in recent days.
Meanwhile, Capital Development Authority (CDA) has evolved monitoring and vigilance mechanism to discourage encroachments in federal capital.
In this connection, special teams of the Enforcement Directorate and Environment Wing are carrying out vigilance and patrolling of different areas of city, particularly those areas where operations against the encroachments and illegal slums have been conducted, said a press release issued here on Monday.
Recently demolished Sector I-11 slum area has been fenced and grading of the roads has been completed.
Special teams of Enforcement Directorate have been deputed on the sites to ensure that illegal structures and encroachments in the area could not re-emerge. The civic body management has also directed to carry out day and night vigilance of the city to ensure that the encroachers could not occupy the CDA lands and to protect the area evacuated from adverse possession, particularly during the recent operation against the illegal slums.
The Enforcement Directorate is also carrying on operation against encroachments and demolishing illegal structures in other parts of the city.
Different formations are collaborating to protect and preserve the CDA lands from adverse possession.
