He was attending a reception organised by Pindi Bhattian Tehsil Nazim Mian Answer Abbas Bhatti. Taseer said that the people who had been conspiring against the newly elected democratic government were enemies of the country. He said that the country could not afford such practices at this point, adding that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government would complete its tenure of five years. He said that several nations had been faced with tough challenges. He said that the PPP was the public’s representative, adding that it would make all possible efforts to drag the nation out of its current crises. He said that the country was facing serious economic and security issues, adding that all the political forces should confront these challenges with unity. He said that those threatening to lock the courts should revise their intentions, adding that the nation would make them a lesson for years to come. He said that the PPP could have formed its own government after the February 18 elections, adding that it took the minority parties along with it to give a concept of consensus and reconciliation. He said that the PPP removed a mighty dictator through dialogue, adding that this had improved the politics of the country.
