Chief Minister federal minister for timely completion of NHA projects in Sindh - LRE-Azan - 01-26-2023 03:02 PM

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Communication Asad Mahmood decided to improve the coordination between the National Highway Authority (NHA) and the Sindh Government for timely completion of the ongoing road sector schemes, according to news published in the national dailies on January 25.

NHA to start Rawalpindi-Kahuta Road dualisation project

During the meeting, the attendees discussed different NHA ongoing projects across the province including Hyderabad-Khokhrapar Highway (N-120), Jamshoro-Sehwan Road and Gharo-Keti Bundar Road.

Talking to the meeting members, the CM said that work on the 220-kilometre long Hyderabad-Khokhrapar has already begun. Currently, work is in progress on the 120-kilometre long portion of the road connecting Mirpurkhas to Khokhrapar via Umerkot.

Moreover, the attendees discussed the work progress on Jamshoro-Sehwan Road projet. CM Shah mentioned that the 130-kilometre-long road is being executed by the NHA, which started the construction work in 2018. So far, the provincial government has distributed PKR 700 million for rehabilitation. However, construction work on the road patch that runs between Khanote and Manjhand has not been initiated yet. He highlighted that due to recent floods, the newly built track was submerged in water near Lakki Shah Saddar. As per the information shared by Federal Minister Mahmood, related work on the project been expedited and the land-acquisition issue will be settled soon.

NHA employees to get housing scheme in Islamabad

The meeting members were also briefed on the 95-kilometre-long Gharo-Keti Bunder Road project. As per the details, the Triple Surface Treatment (TST) on the 60-kilometre long patch of this road has been completed while the work on the remaining 35-kilometre long portion of the road was abandoned.
