LDA Building and Zoning Regulations-2019 for Enhanced Law Enforcement - LRE-Azan - 01-22-2024 07:06 PM LDA Building and Zoning Regulations-2019 for Enhanced Law EnforcementLahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is set to revise the Building and Zoning Regulations 2019 after receiving government approval, to strengthen law enforcement and address parking challenges in the city. This information was reported in a news article published on January 22. In a recent session of the LDA governing body, chaired by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi, proposed amendments were discussed and refined. The modified regulations now stipulate that applications for regularization and approval must be submitted within 60 days, a reduction from the initial 90-day period. This adjustment specifically applies to cases where parking agreements are not concluded with the Traffic Engineering & Transport Planning Agency (TEPA). The governing body has also approved the delegation of powers to TEPA officers, as outlined in the proposal. These empowered officers will oversee matters related to parking, enforcement, management of parking plazas, and right of way within TEPA’s jurisdiction. Additionally, the governing body has revised the proposal concerning the reinstatement of mandatory parking spaces. The updated timeframe for addressing violations of existing parking agreements with TEPA is now 10 days, down from the previous 30 days. As per the proposal, TEPA is now authorized to execute parking agreements under the LDA Building & Zoning Regulations. The agency is actively developing a mechanism to prevent the misuse of parking spaces in various structures, including commercial buildings, apartment complexes, and public buildings. These parking agreements, formalized between TEPA and property owners, empower the agency to collect fees, fines, and penalties associated with parking agreement violations and improper use of parking spaces.
