Punjab government reduces developmnet funds due to budget constraints - Naveed Yaseen - 04-10-2009 08:25 AM JALIL HASSAN AKHTAR LAHORE (April 10 2009): Punjab government has made reduction in its Annual Development Program (ADP) due to lack of funds in the provincial government. The decision to this affect was taken in a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minster, Shahbaz Sharif and PML-N Chief, Nawaz Sharif held here on Thursday. He said delay in development works would not be tolerated any further and instructed to provincial legislators in the meeting that development projects for the next fiscal year should be put forth by the end of this month. The meeting also took a decision to supply roti as per one rupee per piece and assure that measures be adopted for its affective execution. Speaking on the occasion, Nawaz Sharif, chief of PML-N, said that they were willing to join the federal government in case of removal of the 17th amendment and revival of the constitution in its original form. Addressing the journalists he said that it was vital that there was a co-operation between PML-N and PPP for the up gradation of the nation. Furthermore, he stressed that implementation of Charter of Democracy (CoD) should be ensured which is in the best interest of the country, as development of the country totally depends on the execution of CoD. Giving his comments on the present judicial system he said that the Chief Justice was taking interest in the disposition of justice and hoped that revolutionary changes would soon be observed in this institution. Condemning drone attacks on Pakistani soil, which have destroyed integrity and sovereignty of the country, he said that it is no more acceptable, an urged the government to devise a clear cut policy in this regard and take comprehensive measures to make the US stop these attacks any further in future, as there should be no compromise on the integrity and security of the country. http://www.brecorder.com/index.php?id=22281 |
