Islamabad: PHF new phase promises 2,200 plots for govt employees - Naveed Yaseen - 04-23-2009 05:47 AM ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Housing Foundation (PHF) plans initiating 6th phase of its housing scheme for federal government employees near Bara Kahu, said Housing Minister Rehmatullah Kakar on Wednesday. The minister told a news conference here that federal government employees would be offered 2,200 10-marla plots at Rs 1.2 million each in the new phase to be completed within two years. He said the new phase would spread over 3,000 kanals of land. Kakar said the PHF would begin issuing applications for plots in the phase after a fortnight and work on the project would begin after two months. He said Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had set a one-month deadline for the NOC issuance by Capital Development Authority (CDA) to the Housing Ministry for the PHF scheme’s 6th phase. The minister said 3,500 apartments would also be constructed in Gulrez Colony, Rawalpindi, for federal government employees. He said public and private sectors would construct 10,000 low-priced flats in Karachi for low-income households. Kakar said Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Army Welfare Trust had shown interest in entering into a joint venture with the government for building apartments for low-paid employees in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. He said the PHA also planned constructing 1,000 flats in Islamabad’s Sector I-16. The Housing minister said the government had no plans to give ownership rights of G-6 plots of their current occupants. He, however, said the prime minister had directed re-development of the sector and the needful would be done soon. “We can build around 40,000 flats in G-6 under the re-development plan,” he said. He also said the government would soon issue possession letters to the owners of 18 of a total of 84 blocks in G-11/4. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2009\04\23\story_23-4-2009_pg11_3 |
