LAHORE: Punjab Education Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman claimed the province would achieve a 100 percent literacy rate by 2015, a private TV channel reported. Talking to journalists at the Dayal Singh College on its centenary celebrations, the minister announced that teachers’ salaries in the province would be increased within the next two weeks. He said steps were being taken on emergency bases in the education sector of Punjab. He said the youth would have to play a vital role in making Pakistan a strong and stable country. daily times monitor
