Islamabad: Sectors I-8, I-9 residents encroachments case: IHC seeks reply from CDA - Naveed Yaseen - 07-18-2009 05:17 AM ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to submit para-wise comments on a contempt against it till July 29. A single bench comprising Justice Muhammad Ramzan Chaudhry issued this direction on an appeal of Zubaida Shair Muhammad, a resident of Sector F-8/1, through Kowkab Iqbal. Her counsel apprised the bench that despite court orders of February 23, the authorities concerned had failed to remove encroachments erected by Zeb Gohar, wife of former National Assembly (NA) speaker, in Sector F-8/1. Lawyer Kowak Iqbal apprised the court that the IHC on June 19, 2008, issued similar direction to the CDA to demolish all illegal constructions by the respondent, but she had once again encroached upon the area adjacent to her house. He said the respondent had illegally occupied a green plot adjacent to her residence and then constructed car sheds and servant quarters there. Sectors I-8, I-9: Residents of flats in Sectors I-8 and I-9 are continuously making encroachments without any check. Residents have started occupying open plots in front of their flats by erecting iron fences and make-shift shelters for vehicles. “A number of residents are illegally occupying green plots adjacent to their residences by erecting iron slabs and then constructing car sheds and extra rooms in blatant violation of CDA rules,” says Ahmed Rizwan Abbasi, a lawyer. app http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2009\07\18\story_18-7-2009_pg11_5 |
