LAHORE: The Pakistan Baitul Maal (PBM) on Saturday announced a fund of Rs 5 million for the welfare of deserving lawyers and their families. PBM Managing Director Zamrud Khan announced this at a ceremony held by the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) in his honour. Khan, also a lawyer, informed the audience that Rs 37 million were distributed among the deserving lawyers and their families last year. He asked the PbBC to give recommendations for the effective distribution of funds and also help the Malakand lawyers. Khan said PBM was giving Rs 25,000 per year to disabled persons and Rs 36,000 per year to thalassaemia patients in the country. staff report
