ISLAMABAD: The Religious Affairs Ministry has once again extended the date for receipt of haj applications under the government’s scheme to July 30, a ministry spokesman said on Saturday.
Designated branches of various banks had been receiving applications under the government scheme until July 11 against a quota of 80,000 seats.
However, with machine readable passports (MRPs) not yet widely available and the internally displaced persons (IDPs) issue, most candidates could not submit their applications. In view of these problems, the ministry extended the applications’ submission date until July 16, but the non-availability of MRPs still kept thousands of people from filing their papers.
